Mount Tarcoola Primary School is seeking a high-performing instructional leader with a collaborative mindset to fill the role of Deputy Principal. The successful applicant will ideally possess strong interpersonal skills and prioritise a high level of care for staff and students to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

The Role

As a Deputy Principal at Mount Tarcoola Primary School, you will ideally play a crucial role in supporting our staff, particularly within Junior Primary / Early Childhood. Our school serves 400 students and their families within a caring and inclusive environment, of whom approximately 25% are Aboriginal and 10% have a diagnosed disability. The school also caters for a diverse range of families with multi-cultural backgrounds. English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) knowledge is highly desirable.

In collaboration with the principal and leadership team, you will support teachers in creating effective learning environment for students with diverse needs, particularly those with complex learning challenges, by leading professional development and leveraging data-informed practices. This role involves utilising your knowledge of disability resourcing to scaffold learning, implementing evidence-based strategies to address individual needs, and fostering a collaborative culture that promotes achievement for every student.

The successful applicant will support teachers in implementing evidence-based whole-school teaching strategies and programs in core curriculum areas. You will ideally have experience in leading pedagogical change, knowledge of the science of learning, and an understanding of the Department of Education's Teaching for Impact documents. Leading professional learning and effective staff collaboration will be a requirement of this role.

As a Deputy Principal at Mount Tarcoola Primary School, you will work closely with teachers to implement classroom observations, feedback sessions, and structured learning sprints. You will be required to work collaboratively to meet the needs of our students. Excellent time management and communication skills are essential, in addition to an ability to confidently navigate the school’s collaborative Microsoft 365 tools and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

We are seeking applicants who possess excellent organisation skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment. A positive attitude, use of initiative and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, are important qualities within this role. You will be integral in actively supporting a strong culture of collegiality, integrity, and high expectations. You will ideally have previous successful leadership experience within your current role.

An ability to engage with parents, the wider community, and paraprofessionals in order to support student need is highly desirable. A high level of interpersonal, public relation and communication skills are an essential requirement of this position. Engagement in and working with teachers and allied professional staff in leading High Impact Instructional teaching processes is an essential requirement.
