Summary
The Assistant Principal – Students provides strategic and operational leadership in student formation, wellbeing and pastoral care. This role enables student learning and flourishing by fostering a strong Catholic identity, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment, and supporting staff to enact high-quality pastoral and relational practices.
In collaboration with the head of Campus and Campus Leadership Team (CLT), the Assistant Principal cultivates a culture of encounter, inclusion and excellence consistent with Brisbane Catholic Education’s mission to teach, challenge and transform.
At Southern Cross Catholic College, this role is exercised within the Lasallian tradition, promoting the College’s charism and values across all aspects of student life.

- Salary: $149,763 - $157,120 per annum + 12.5% Super

About the opportunity
Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) invites applications for this School Senior Leadership position with the capability to support the Principal in:
- building the religious life of the school and a vibrant Catholic identity within the school community;
- growing the engagement, progress, achievement and wellbeing of each student in the school; and
- building a sustainable school community, ensuring stewardship of resources with transparency, accountability and compliance.
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a coherent Formation and Wellbeing Framework aligned with BCE priorities and College context.
- Provide strategic leadership for student wellbeing, behaviour and engagement across the Secondary Campus, ensuring a proactive, inclusive and evidence-informed approach.
- Lead a culture of safeguarding where the protection and wellbeing of students is understood as the responsibility of all staff.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Campus Leadership Team to align vision, strategy and operational priorities with BCE expectations.
- Develop and sustain strong partnerships with parents and caregivers as active partners in student learning and wellbeing.
- Lead the development and implementation of student leadership structures and opportunities across the Secondary Campus
- Collaborate with the Assistant Principal – Curriculum and the Curriculum leaders to ensure strong alignment between student wellbeing and improved learning outcomes.
- Ensure all student wellbeing, behaviour and pastoral care policies align with BCE frameworks and legislative requirements.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Experience as an Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Religious Education, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus or Principal, or a senior role providing support and leadership to Catholic schools, or equivalent experience
- Experience in teaching, and leading the teaching of, religious education.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
- For this position you are required to be Catholic (or a faith partner of one of our ecumenical schools).
