Position Information
Mulyan Public School is located on Wiradjuri country and sits in the northern part of Cowra. The word Mulyan is a Wiradjuri word meaning eagle which is where our school motto "Aim High" comes from. Just like the eagle we "Aim High".
We have a student population of approximately 340. Our school community consists of a diverse student population including 30% Aboriginal students, 3% students from refugee backgrounds and students from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds. This diversity means that our school context is enhanced with a variety of skills and cultural backgrounds that need to be nurtured in order for our students to achieve success.
Mulyan Public School population has 14% of students with significant learning needs that require intensive intervention and learning programs. We have three support classes that can provide specific learning programs for individual students.
Staff work collaboratively using the latest explicit teaching strategies to improve student learning. Our school community is an integral part of the work we do to raise student outcomes, and we strive for genuine partnerships and connections with our parents, students and local community.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary;
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively within and across teams to analyse evidence of student learning and use this analysis to drive explicit teaching.
- Demonstrated capacity to support teaching teams to differentiate curriculum so they support students with a wide variety of learning needs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
