Summary

Join our Financial Accounting Services team in a role that plays a key part in maintaining accurate, high‑quality financial records across BCE. As the Assistant Accountant, you’ll support daily and month‑end processes, champion strong financial controls, and use your systems expertise to help drive smarter, more efficient ways of working. With a mix of hands‑on accounting, system support and stakeholder engagement, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving and working collaboratively within a busy finance environment.

About the opportunity

In this position you will:

  • Support the MFAS and Financial Accountant to uphold the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of BCEO financial records and reports.
  • Complete daily and month‑end accounting processes, including reconciliation of key general ledger control accounts.
  • Contributing to the development of operational and administrative processes and system reporting requirements, including preparing business documents and reports.
  • Act as an ERP “super user”, maintaining deep knowledge of BCE’s systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, Excel/VBA) and providing training to BCEO users.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable and provide leave coverage when required.
  • Build productive relationships and deliver responsive, customer‑centred service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the BCEO asset register, including accounting for acquisitions and disposals.
  • Oversee the corporate credit card facility, ensuring policy compliance and escalating perceived control breaches.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:    

  • Strong capability with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI and advanced Excel (including VBA), with a passion for process improvement.
  • Creating accurate documentation with a high attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder engagement ensuring information flow in a timely and inclusive manner.
  • Excellent reconciliation skills, attention to detail and confidence working to month‑end timetables.
  • Providing information to a range of internal and external stakeholders in response to direct queries.
  • Investigating issues and concerns and providing advice and information in line with policy and procedures
  • Completion or near‑completion of a degree in finance, accounting, commerce, business management or a related field.
  • At least two years’ experience in a financial accounting support role

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:  

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement.
