Summary

Support our school’s daily retail operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish. Are you passionate about coffee, food service, and mentoring young people? We’re looking for a friendly and organised Barista & Tuckshop Assistant to help run our and supervise our student-led coffee van initiative and support in the tuckshop. The role will involve the supervision and mentoring of students to support the operatiion of the coffee van, teaching them barista skills, customer service, and food safety

  • Location: Our Ladys College - Annerley (S)
  • Start date: 06/02/2026
  • Work hours: 10-20 hours per week
  • Salary: School Services staff level 2 - $32.50/hour + super (term Time only School holidays unpaid)
  • Status: Casual

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Supervise and mentor students operating the coffee van, teaching them barista skills, customer service, and food safety
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and hygiene standards
  • Assist with stock management, ordering, and daily operations
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students and staffAssisting in tuckshop as required
  • Ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with food handling and hygiene procedures and guidelines
  • Assisting with maintaining adequate stock levels to meet daily and weekly menu requirements, including the ordering, receiving, storing and stocktakes
  • Assisting with the daily cleaning and clean-up of kitchen and storage areas to ensure high standards of food hygiene
  • Observing workplace health and safety practices and notifying the Tuckshop Convenor of any potential hazard including any dangerous occurrences.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Barista experience
  • Ability to train and supervise student led coffee van to develop their skills in food handling and customer service
  • Planning and supporting healthy, balanced menus, and accommodating special dietary needs.
  • Knowledge of proper food preparation techniques, food storage, and food safety protocols (e.g., temperature control, cross-contamination prevention)
  • Familiarity with workplace health and safety practices and the ability to identify and address potential hazards in the kitchen environment
  • Experience in stock management, including ordering, receiving, storing, and performing stocktakes to ensure adequate supplies
  • Experience adhering to hygiene regulations, including maintaining cleanliness in food prep and storage areas, and conducting routine cleaning
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
