Sacred Heart is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wellbeing, Mental Health and Inclusion Support Officer to join our inclusive school community in 2026. This is a part-time replacement position (up to 0.94 FTE), with flexibility based on the successful applicant’s availability and experience. The role will be classified in accordance with the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 at Education Support Level 3 or 4, depending on experience. The position will commence as soon as possible. This is a fixed-term replacement role through to 26 January 2027, with the likelihood of extension.
Our Wellbeing, Mental Health and Inclusion Support role plays a vital part in fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels known, valued and able to thrive. Working closely with classroom teachers, Learning Community Leaders and the Wellbeing Team, this role supports students across a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Through strong relationships and a co-regulation approach, the role works alongside students to build emotional awareness, resilience and positive behaviours. It supports students who may be experiencing regulation challenges or impacting the learning of others, guiding them to develop proactive, collaborative strategies that promote success, inclusion and a strong sense of belonging.
The successful applicant will:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Catholic identity and mission of the school
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students, staff and families
- Support students using relational, proactive and co-regulation approaches
- Work collaboratively with teachers and leaders to support student wellbeing and inclusion
- Show initiative, flexibility and strong organisational skills
- Communicate effectively and maintain professionalism in all interactions
- Contribute positively to a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and co-regulation strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to coordinated student support
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Capacity to support inclusive practices and adapt to diverse student needs
- Experience in implementing or supporting intervention programs (desirable)
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice
Special Requirements
- Current Working with Children Check (Employee) and National Police Check
- Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, and Mandatory Reporting training (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning profiles (desirable)
- Commitment to the Child Safe Standards, Catholic ethos, and DOBCEL policies and procedures
