Position Information

Quirindi High School is a rural school of approximately 400 students, including 30% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Quirindi High School prides itself on providing bespoke pathways for all students. The township of Quirindi is located 60km south of Tamworth and approximately a 2.5 hour drive north of Newcastle. Quirindi has teacher housing and is an excellent rural centre with a variety of clubs.

We are looking for a Special Education Teacher who enjoys working in a positive and collaborative environment and is willing to be part of a dynamic team who are always looking at ways to enhance their own capabilities, promote inclusivity, engage with our Aboriginal community and support staff in planning accommodations and adjustments for students with particular needs

Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Emotional Disturbance (Secondary) and complex needs including cognitive, neurodivergent and psychosocial disabilities.

2. Demonstrated ability to understand and meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and capacity to work collaboratively to develop quality differentiated teaching and learning programs, resources and individualised learning, behaviour, and wellbeing plans, to maximise student growth and promote high expectations for all students.

3. Demonstrated successful classroom management with flexible and adaptive strategies that create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

4. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to establish effective partnerships with parents, community, support agencies, and colleagues to achieve improved outcomes for students and a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
