Position Information

Mainsbridge School caters for students from Kindergarten through Year 12 with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex health needs, our school is a vibrant community of 126 learners across 20 specialised learning spaces. With 86% of students utilising the Assisted School Transport Program (ASTP), we are committed to ensuring accessibility and equity for all.

Our diverse student body is richly multicultural, with 94% of students from Language Backgrounds Other Than English (LBOTE), predominantly Arabic and Vietnamese speakers. Approximately seventy dedicated staff members contribute their expertise and passion daily, fostering a collaborative and supportive professional culture.

Our school is committed to family engagement and parent participation in their child’s learning, such as goal setting for Personalised Learning Plans, ensuring each student’s targets are meaningful and achievable. Good communication and organisation skills are a must for this position as teachers work closely with families and external providers.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval or willingness to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with moderate to severe intellectual disability, autism, physical disabilities, complex behaviour and health.      

Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum and implement personalised learning plans that maximise student success, communication and engagement.        

Demonstrate effective classroom practices and proactive behaviour management that fosters a positive school culture.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team, build relationships with staff and the wider community including external agencies.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
