Colyton High School has an enrolment of 759 students in mainstream classes. In addition, the school has 3 support unit classes with up to 38 students. 41% of students have a language base other than English. 10% of students identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism, Mild Intellectual Disability and complex needs including behaviour and emotional support and mental health.
  2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to develop quality differentiated teaching and learning programs, resources and individualised learning, behaviour and wellbeing plans, to maximise student growth and promote high expectations for all students.
  3. Demonstrated successful classroom management with flexible and adaptive strategies that create a positive learning environment.
  4. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to establish effective partnerships with parents, community, support agencies and colleagues to achieve improved outcomes for students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
