Position Information
Blacktown Boys High School (Years 7-12) is located a short stroll from the Blacktown CBD on traditional Darug land. It has an enrolment of 916 students, including 22.8% students from a non-English speaking background and 1.8% Aboriginal students. It is a Partially Selective High School with an academically selective cohort in each year group, gifted and talented classes, mainstream classes and an Inclusive Education Unit. The school caters for the educational and wellbeing needs of boys, attracting students from a wide drawing area, who are seeking a single-sex education. It has a strong focus on achieving academic and creative excellence, and developing resilient, self-confident young men who can collaborate and communicate effectively, as they develop skills to be lifelong learners. It has a focus on Literacy and Numeracy, differentiated learning, student wellbeing and collaborative teaching. The wide community has recognised the school's success, and this is reflected in increasing enrolments. It is a school where boys thrive.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) and Sport, Lifestyle & Recreation, Community & Family Studies.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to plan, implement and deliver quality teaching and learning programs
- Capacity for effective classroom practices that support differentiation for students with a variety of learning needs
- Ability to coordinate sport and extra-curricular activities in school, including but not limited to gala days, carnivals and school sport.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
