Position Information

Fort Street High School is an academically selective high school with a long history of providing education for gifted students. The school is located in Petersham and has an enrolment of 915 students of whom 78% come from language backgrounds other than English. The school is known for developing leadership across an extensive range of areas and endeavour. Fortians are encouraged to be self-directed, independent learners as well as critical thinking young adults who contribute to society in the context of a highly developed social conscience. The school provides a wide range of co-curricular programs which enhance the learning of Fortians. The school is supported by a diverse and highly engaged parent community.

Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach mathematics 7-12 with a demonstrated ability to successfully teach mathematics extensions 1 & 2.
• Demonstrates ability to support and extend the learning experience of high potential and gifted students, differentiating effectively to meet their needs.
• Demonstrates the capacity to design mathematics lessons which promote critical reflection, creativity, collaboration, and communication.
• Ability to work as a member of both faculty and whole school teams with strong interpersonal skills.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
