The Role
As a valued member of the Warwick SHS community, the successful applicant will be a passionate, conscientious and innovative Home Economics teacher, committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences for our students.
Ideally, we are seeking an applicant with a strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum: Technologies, including food specialisations and textiles across Years 7 to 10. The successful applicant should also have the knowledge and capacity to contribute to senior secondary Food Science and Technology, Materials Design and Technology (Textiles) and relevant vocational programs in Years 11 and 12. In this role, you will deliver a teaching and learning program that caters to the diverse needs of Warwick SHS students, ensuring every learner is empowered to realise their potential. Qualifications and experience that support the delivery of Certificate II in Hospitality, or a willingness to undertake the required training, would be highly regarded, particularly as our new commercial kitchen becomes operational in early 2027 and further strengthens our vocational pathways. Flexibility and a willingness to teach across other curriculum areas, as required, would also be valued.
The ideal applicant would bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with staff, students and the wider Warwick SHS community. As a reflective practitioner, you should be committed to your ongoing professional growth and will actively embrace opportunities for collaboration within our learning area and across the school. You will play an active role in progressing Warwick SHS purpose, vision and priorities through all aspects of your professional practice.
As the successful applicant, you will ideally:
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging Home Economics programs across Years 7 to 12, aligned with the relevant Western Australian Curriculum and senior secondary requirements.
- Support the delivery of Certificate II in Hospitality, contributing to strong vocational pathways for students.
- Use assessment evidence, feedback and moderation processes to monitor student progress, support consistent teacher judgement and inform teaching and learning.
- Contribute to the effective integration of the new commercial kitchen into teaching and learning as it becomes operational in early 2027, maximising its potential for student learning and vocational training.
- Maintain safe, inclusive and well-managed classroom and kitchen environments that cater to the diverse needs of learners, while modelling appropriate food safety, hygiene and workplace practices, and ensuring the safe use of equipment.
- Build positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader school community.
- Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional learning to strengthen your professional practice.
- Contribute to the school's priorities and culture, including alignment with the 2027–2029 Business Plan.
- Display flexibility to teach in other curriculum areas where needed
