We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Join Our Specialist Team at Carson Street School

Carson Street School is ideally seeking passionate, innovative, and dedicated teachers who are committed to making a difference in the lives of students with complex needs. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse education support setting, supporting primary-aged students who require the highest levels of educational adjustment.

Our students present with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities or severe autism, and many have complex comorbid diagnoses, including significant physical disabilities, sensory impairments, behavioural challenges, and complex medical needs. All students experience communication difficulties, with most being AAC users. Assistive technologies and intensive adult support are key components of our individualised teaching and learning programs.

We are looking for educators that should have specialised knowledge, experience, and skills in the field of special education. The following expertise is highly regarded:

  • Knowledge and experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • High-level understanding and practical experience in using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, including Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) and communication devices
  • Experience working with students with physical disabilities and high medical needs
  • Specialist experience or qualifications in Conductive Education (BA Honours or Diploma in CE) will be considered an advantage

Leadership skills that would also be valued, are:

  • Experience in managing classroom teams and education assistants
  • Competency in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and using Reporting to Parents frameworks
