Applications are sought for an exciting opportunity as Principal Advisor - Indigenous/English as an Additional Language Dialect (PA - I/EALD) to join the First Nations, Partnerships and Programs team in the Far North Queensland Region. This vacancy is available immediately, and is offered on a temporary full-time basis, for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- working as a collaborative member of the First Nations Partnerships and Programs team and across work units focussed on building school leaders, middle leaders and teacher capability in language identification;
- identifying opportunities to provide support for school leaders and teachers with effective and differentiated teaching strategies to meet the needs of First Nations and other students for whom English is an additional language or dialect (EALD);
- strengthening leader and teacher understanding of the Australian curriculum and evidence-based approaches to language and literacy development;
- increasing schools' language awareness and identification processes, use of band scales for monitoring and implementing effective teaching and learning;
- fostering professional collaborations across schools to grow and sustain effective practices that support I/EALD learners;
- coordinating and conducting online and face-to-face professional development, targeted to the areas of need identified with school leadership teams and teachers aligned with AITSL standards for professional learning;
- providing data and advice to senior staff to meet relevant accountabilities;
- demonstrating ongoing commitment to professional learning relevant to the required improvement work and outcomes.
Mandatory Requirements:
- You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.
- Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 7.4 of the Department of Education State School Teachers Certified Agreement 2019.
- When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
