Veritas Education is a specialist education supply agency seeking experienced SEN Support Assistants, Behaviour Mentors and Autism Support Assistants to work within primary schools.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who have proven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and who are genuinely passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of primary-aged pupils.

As a supply SEN Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping children with autism, behavioural needs, and additional learning requirements to thrive both academically and socially. You may work on a 1:1 basis or support small groups, both within the classroom and across the wider school setting.

The Role

You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism, ADHD, behavioural needs and other additional needs.
  • Support learners throughout their daily routines, helping them access lessons and school activities.
  • Work closely with class teachers to adapt learning and ensure pupils can engage with the curriculum or a personalised timetable.
  • Manage and calmly de-escalate challenging behaviour, prioritising the wellbeing and safety of pupils at all times.
  • Encourage the development of social skills, emotional regulation and independence.
  • Record pupil progress, behaviour and development in collaboration with teaching staff and senior leadership.
  • Support with personal care, hygiene and medical needs where required.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff including SENCOs, Behaviour Teams and Senior Leadership Teams.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly within a primary setting.
  • Experience working with autism and behavioural needs is highly desirable.
  • A calm, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training (e.g. safeguarding, Team Teach, SEN development).
  • A flexible and adaptable mindset suited to supply work.
