What you'll be doing

  • Provides leadership and support to all people in the community
  • Providing information, assessments, interventions, case management, education and health promotion activities to reduce the spread of HIV, Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBV's) and
  • Improve health outcomes for clients, families and communities.
  • Lead the Needle Syringe Program (NSP) and Community engagement.

How to apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse. Evidence of 12 months post clinical experience as a registered nurse and post graduate qualifications in Sexual Health and Vaccination or willingness to obtain within agreed timeframe.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for own actions and to practice in accordance with the Registered Nurse Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of communicable disease control, harm reduction, and issues related to transmission and prevention of HIV, STIs and Blood Borne Viruses (BBV's).
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means with sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Demonstrate organisational and problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • A commitment to quality improvement, practice development, evidence-based practice and research.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide the provision of culturally safe and appropriate services to Indigenous and other priority populations and communities.
  • Current license to drive in NSW and willingness to travel to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
