Join the Prevention, Early Intervention and Recovery Service (PEIRS) at Western Sydney Local Health District, based at Jeffrey House, Parramatta Community Health Centre, within the historic Cumberland Hospital campus. Cumberland Hospital is NSW’s largest and Australia’s oldest mental health facility and forms part of a major new Integrated Mental Health Complex at Westmead.

What you'll be doing
As a Registered Nurse with PEIRS, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based mental health care to young people with moderate to severe and persistent mental illness, working closely with families and key stakeholders.
- Deliver individual and group therapeutic interventions, assessments and medication management
- Coordinate care and case management for young people with complex needs
- Provide recovery-oriented, consumer-centred and family-inclusive care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, GPs, schools and community services
- Contribute to quality improvement, service development and research initiatives

Essential Requirements:
- License: Current NSW Drivers Licence.
- Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Registered Nurse.
- Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
Selection Criteria:
- Registered Nurse with significant experience and knowledge in working with children and /or young people with mental health concerns and their parents/ guardians and families in a community mental health setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application to therapeutic interventions with children/young people and their parents/guardian and family.
- Evidence of ability to build and maintain cooperative professional and therapeutic relationships with children/ young people and their parents /guardians and key stakeholders through the application of well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team within minimal direct clinical supervision.
- Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit children/young people and their parents/guardians and families; and ability to exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems.
- Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the supervision needs of students and/or less experienced staff in addition to leading planning and evaluating team activities.
- Current and valid NSW drivers’ licence and willing to use for work purpose.
