Tagai State College invites applications for a temporary full-time role as a Project Officer - Housing (AO4 level), until the end of term 4 2026, with the possibility of extension.
The role will work across facility management related to the Departments housing property portfolio, including cleaning, grounds, logistics, infrastructure asset control and inventory management, housing inspections, in line with the State Tenancy Authority to meet the priorities of the Department of Education and Tagai State College tenants across the Torres Strait.
This position assists the Executive Principal of Tagai State College for the administration of the LAC (Local Accommodation Committee).

Tagai State College
We are unique, and unlike any other school in Qld. Our 17 school campuses and TAFE facility are spread across 15 islands and 48,000 square kilometres of ocean.
We provide education from Kindergarten through to Year 12, on 17 campuses.
Responsibilities of the role:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Assist the Executive Principal with administrative support for Local Accomodation Committee (LAC) - Housing.
- Be the escalation point for the resolution of matters relating to local housing management of the college.
- Coordinate procurement activities by sourcing assets, whitegoods and furniture.
- Coordinate property inspections.
- Coordinate the logistics of tenants relocating properties.
- Report on local housing activities, maintenance issues or WHS issues to the correct authorities.
- Ensuring that policy, procedures and guidelines are adhered to from both the State Tenancy Authority and Department of Education (Housing).
- Work with external stakeholders such as QBuild and DoE Infrastructure Team to deliver capital refurbishment programs and ongoing maintenance of properties.
- Create a 'real time' live Property Portfolio of tenant housing on Sharepoint.
- Induct tenants upon arrival, to understanding remote teacher housing requirements.
- Oversee exiting of tenants, including exit condition reports from teacher housing.
- Ensure accuracy of paperwork for State Tenancies Authority and DoE Housing.
- Prepare accurate documentation for LAC Meetings and act as secretariat taking minutes of LAC meetings for the Local Accomodation Officer (LAO).
About You:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong written and verbal communicaiton skills.
- A knowledge or a skillset about facilities, infrastructure, property management or government housing would be an advantage.
- Ability to travel to outer islands to conduct inspections when required.
- Ability to work during school holidays (peak changeover times for tenants).
- Strong skillset in scheduling, database management and systems design.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
