Northern Beaches Secondary College (NBSC) Mackellar Girls Campus (enrolment 1028 students) is a comprehensive highly performing Year 7-12 girls’ high school and is part of a collaboration with Cromer, Freshwater Senior, Balgowlah Boys and Manly campuses. While academic excellence is highly valued and supported, the school encourages its students to take part in a broad range of learning experiences including cultural, physical and social activities. The campus has an active Parents and Citizens Association which supports the school in its provision of resources and extracurricular activities. The campus’ reputation as a consistently high performing school is underpinned by excellent Higher School Certificate results, ranking in the top comprehensive schools in NSW for both band 6 attainment and the average mark attained in HSC courses. The school also comprises girls from a culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with a significant percentage from a language background other than English.
The college includes more than 4,800 students and 450 staff led by the College Management Team (CMT). The CMT comprises the college and campus principals and is responsible for the administration of staffing and financial resource to achieve key educational and wellbeing outcomes. NBSC operates 20 collaborative staff networks based around key learning and operational areas in addition to a student and parent consultative group. The networks lead a number of collaborative strategic initiatives across the college focused on coordination and communication, wellbeing, professional dialogue and curriculum support.

- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

- A highly visible, approachable leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing partnerships with all stakeholders to ensure the continual improvement of a high-performing campus.
- Highly responsive educational leadership with the capacity to initiate change aligned with Our Plan for NSW Public Education, empowering staff to lead explicit, quality teaching and wellbeing initiatives that maximise student learning outcomes.
- Proven capacity as an instructional leader to foster a high-performing, collaborative culture that generates effective, measurable, and sustainable outcomes across Mackellar Girls Campus and Northern Beaches Secondary College community.
- Proven capacity to lead the implementation of the School Excellence Plan, with a focus on reflective, evidence-informed, evaluative practices to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P4 for 2025 and Principal Level P4 for 2026.
