Position Information
Plattsburg Public School is located within the suburb of Wallsend and has a proud history of having provided more than 150 years of public education to the community. The school proudly acknowledge that they teach and learn on Awabakal land. Currently the school has an enrolment of 196 students with 42 identifying as Aboriginal and 54 as having a non-English speaking background.
The school has a strong focus on providing individualised learning opportunities for students to achieve. This includes significant access to technology, cultural experiences and wellbeing programs. By fostering a culture of positivity, high expectations, and motivation, the school creates a nurturing learning environment that empowers all students to connect, thrive, learn and succeed. The school has previously partnered with AERO to develop and implement rigorous explicit teaching practices. This partnership remains a high priority for the school.
Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,

- Successful experience in leading, inspiring, and promoting a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement especially in delivering on our commitment to explicit teaching
- A visible leader with demonstrated ability to engage and maintain connections to a broad and diverse community
General Selection Criteria
- High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
- Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is > for 2016 and also for 2017.
