Primary Early Childhood and Education Support are seeking to establish a pool of Principal Advisors for fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 and up to the end of September 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. It encompasses both school and system-facing service delivery. While it primarily exists to support schools, it also has an important system-facing role supporting strategy and policy development.

Service Delivery is the key interface with schools. Its purpose is to plan, coordinate and deliver targeted services that support schools and regions to improve student achievement.

The Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support Directorate provides coordinated services and expertise with a focus on schools identified as requiring support to improve the achievement of their K-6 students. It also performs a similar function for education support schools and centres.

The branch coordinates and brokers access to responsive support for early childhood initiatives and contributes to relevant strategic initiatives in primary education. It provides advice and subject matter expertise to schools, regions, and the system in relation to primary, early childhood and education support, and manages programs and initiatives that provide specialist and/or targeted servicers to schools with primary-aged students.

The Role

A new and exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic, leader who is looking to make a difference in supporting primary schools and early childhood settings to achieve high quality educational outcomes for students. The successful applicant must have demonstrated extensive experience in implementing whole school, evidenced based practices and utilise their excellent interpersonal skills to achieve collaborative and consultative responses in building the capacity of Western Australia Public Schools

Your role will be to negotiate and coordinate service provision to schools through the expertise of Statewide Services. Your capacity to negotiate and coordinate innovative solutions to school leaders across the state will be critical.

As the Principal Advisor, you will also provide strategic advice and support for the effective development, implementation and coordination of primary and early childhood projects, programs and initiatives. This role requires demonstrated capacity to provide effective leadership, highly developed verbal and communication skills and the ability to undertake high-level negotiations, consultations and collaborations. You will need outstanding written communication and presentation skills, including experience in the preparation of complex reports and presenting contentious information to a range of stakeholders.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

    • Demonstrated extensive skills and experience in the development and implementation of professional learning programs, projects or strategies at a school, region or system level.
    • Demonstrated highly developed conceptual, analytical and strategy formulation skills, including the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems.
