Primary Teacher – Full-time (Commencing 2026)

Lorien Novalis School (Hills District, Sydney) seeks a caring, enthusiastic teacher—qualified or working toward qualification—keen to develop as a Steiner Class Teacher (Years 1–7). You’ll work within a supportive, arts-rich program alongside specialist staff, with weekly mentoring and allocated non-teaching time.

Lorien Novalis School is situated in the Hills District of Sydney, about 45 minutes to the northwest of the city, nestled in lush bushlands and landscaped gardens. The school has been offering a rich and creative Steiner curriculum for 54 years and built a strong reputation for the diverse and engaging education that it provides.

Lorien Novalis School is seeking a person who is a qualified teacher or is working toward qualification and who is interested to become a Steiner School Class Teacher to work alongside our current Class Teachers and Early Childhood teachers as an assistant/mentee and as a relief teacher when required.

At Lorien, a Class Teacher accompanies the journey of the children from Year 1 to Year 7. The position offers a wonderful life-long learning opportunity for teacher to learn and unfold their own journey of personal development and professional competency.

As a teacher at Lorien Novalis, you would find yourself working closely with a cohesive group of colleagues, specialist teachers to deliver a rich learning program that is artistic and alive and provides a wide range of educational experiences in keeping with the school’s creative curriculum indications. Weekly mentoring sessions are offered to maintain support, as well as scheduled time away from the classroom to complete your other duties.

Whether you have extensive knowledge of Steiner Education or a smaller amount, if you are enthusiastic, caring and love children and are keen on being a teacher in a Steiner school, this position might be perfect for you.

• Have talent and interest in cultivating skills in soft or hard handcrafts.
• Have interest in cultivating s in guiding children in camping and outdoor activities that support the school’s outdoor learning program.
• Eagerness to self-study about Steiner Education and Anthroposophy and demonstrate a growing understanding of Steiner’s indications on human development.
• Able to work collegially and collaboratively with other teachers and staff as part of the vibrant learning community.

It would be necessary to:

• Have qualifications or be working toward qualification to be registered as a teacher with NESA – NSW Educational Standards Authority. (Conditional or Provisional Accreditation accepted)
• Hold a current NSW WWCC.
• Current First Aid Certificate
