APPLY HERE The ACT Education Directorate seeks passionate and aspiring third year and fourth year pre-service teachers to apply for our Pre-service Teacher Program, securing your future as a new educator before you graduate. Our Permit to Teach Program is an employment-based pathway available for fourth year students completing an initial teacher education (ITE) course. You’ll receive pay and conditions among the nation’s leading public school teacher salary packages, plus you’ll gain invaluable experience in an ACT public school. All ACT public schools teach the newest version of the Australian Curriculum (V9.0) from kindergarten to year 10. About you: Have a passion for teaching and education and support a student-centred approach to learning. Have the drive and enthusiasm to teach across a broad age and ability range. Demonstrate knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and/or Early Years Learning Framework. Have positive classroom management skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Can establish and foster relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers. Are committed to supporting the wellbeing of students. Conditions of offer: Suitable applicants will need to meet the following conditions prior to commencing their employment as a teacher with the ACT Education Directorate: Initial Teacher Education qualification completion within three years of the early offer. Pre-service teacher registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI). ACT Working with Vulnerable People Registration (WWVP). *Pre-service teachers from the following universities can commence teaching on a Restricted Permit to Teach once minimum course requirements have been satisfied: Australian Catholic University, Charles Sturt University, University of Canberra, Swinburne University, Charles Darwin University. All pre-service teachers from Australian universities nationwide can commence teaching on an Unrestricted Permit to Teach once course requirements are met.
