Personal Support and Learning Assistant

Melbourne Grammar School is seeking a dedicated Personal Support and Learning Assistant join our Primary School Grimwade House commencing in 2026. The purpose of this role is to deliver individualised care and support to children and families, undertaking duties within the scope of specific training and established care plans. This role is grounded in the values of care, respect, and collaboration, and contributes meaningfully to the holistic development of students in alignment with Grimwade House’s commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and capable learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertakes duties as directed following completion of specific training to support the individual.
• Provide one-on-one care dependent on the individualised needs as per the parameters in their care plan.
• Safely perform lifting, transferring, and positioning of students using approved techniques and equipment, following manual handling risk management procedures.
• Support individual students with additional learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, or behavioural challenges, under the direction of teaching staff.
• Provide in-class support to help students access the curriculum, complete tasks, and participate in classroom activities.

You will:

• Proven experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Ability to implement strategies that support diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities, learning difficulties or behavioural challenges.
• Experience or willingness to undertake required training
• Capacity to foster a safe, inclusive, positive learning environment.
• Maintain a collaborative approach to working within a team, contributing to a supportive school culture.

Must have a Working with Children Check Clearance or be willing to obtain prior to commencement
