We are seeking 2 teachers to take on a 6 month Maternity leave position starting in Term 3.

(A starting date prior to this to support a clear transition would be of benefit but can be negotiated for the right skill set/person)

The positions are for a Foundation and Year One classroom.

*Applications are called for from interested teachers who can demonstrate the following capabilities:*

  • A commitment to the ethos of Catholic education and supporting the parish community
  • Have knowledge and expertise in a range of subject areas across the Victorian Curriculum
  • Knowledge of Structured literacy and the Sounds Write program would be of benefit
  • Value student voice and agency
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise and communicate effectively with all members of the school community
  • Have a proven capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Is an exemplary teacher.
  • VIT Registration
  • Accreditation to teach RE in a Catholic school (or eligibility for accreditation)

Part-time applications will be considered, but full-time is preferred.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated:

  • a strong commitment to the Catholic faith community and Catholic education
  • a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing
  • a demonstrated capacity to provide a personalised, evidence based curriculum
  • a high level of understanding and capacity to implement a developmental approach to learning and teaching
  • a willingness and ability to work in a collaborative team environment, including an ability to give and receive feedback related to practice
  • a willingness to seek feedback on and make changes to practice
  • an understanding of the ethos and values of St Columba's school

St Columba's is a multi-age school, with over 300 students split into 14 learning groups, the school is situated in North Ballarat in regional Victoria. We are a Catholic parish primary school with a vision and mission very much developed around the charism of St Columba; of having faith and being unafraid to journey into the unknown.

The original school was built in 1911 by the Sisters of Mercy and has been added to over the years.
