1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Longton, Preston)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Longton, Preston. This role involves providing tailored support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and thrive in the school environment. This is a maternity cover role with possible long term opportunities. May need to Drive.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support to a designated pupil with SEND, both in and out of the classroom.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and adapt learning materials.
• Assist with developing the pupil's confidence, social skills, and emotional well-being.
• Implement strategies from Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Promote positive behaviour and a nurturing, inclusive environment.
• Build strong relationships with staff, parents, and external professionals.

About You

• Experience supporting children with SEND (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other needs).
• A patient, empathetic, and positive approach.
• The ability to remain calm and adaptable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A commitment to supporting children to reach their full potential.
• Teaching assistant qualifications (desirable but not essential).
