About the role

As Manager you will:

  • Apply discipline, expertise, and experience by integrating planning, organising, directing, and evaluating to establish goals and priorities aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Inspire and engage others by fostering clarity, a shared sense of purpose, and a commitment to achieving organisational goals.
  • Manage multiple projects effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating autonomy, initiative, and adaptability to evolving priorities and emerging challenges.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making and provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior officers and executives.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement to navigate nuanced system and stakeholder environments, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

As Manager, your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Lead major projects at state-wide level and of critical importance to the department, operating within broad policy guidelines, or responsibility for a service-wide function
  • Provide high level strategic advice within or across Agencies, develop policy and interpret, review and implement policy instructions, set objectives in the work area
  • Process representations to the Minister, oversee responses to Parliamentary Questions, prepare reports to government, preparing ministerial briefing notes and correspondence
  • Liaise with other government bodies and community organisations, including the provision of public information on projects, activities or services; and represent the department at meetings, conferences or seminars.

About You

The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:

  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and an ability to apply whole-of-government perspectives.
  • Qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills in order to monitor impact of initiatives.
  • A track record in achieving high levels of productivity autonomously, in complex, sensitive or high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and facilitate stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.
