Our LSOs play a vital role in nurturing students’ learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging. Working alongside classroom teachers, Learning Community Leaders, and the Learning Diversity Team, LSOs support students with diverse learning needs — ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish.
The successful applicant will:
- Support the Catholic identity and mission of Sacred Heart through respectful participation in prayer, liturgy, and school life when in attendance
- Assist students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, learning difficulties, or EAL backgrounds
- Provide respectful and discreet assistance with personal care where required
- Support the implementation of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and classroom adjustments as directed
- Assist with supervision during breaks, transitions, excursions, and school activities
- Work flexibly across classrooms and year levels based on daily staffing needs
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with teachers and school staff
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and a commitment to student safety and wellbeing

- Demonstrates a commitment to the Catholic ethos and mission of Sacred Heart and models Gospel values
- Supports students with diverse learning, behavioural, and personal care needs with compassion and professionalism
- Follows direction to assist with ILPs, BSPs, and classroom adjustments
- Builds positive relationships with students to support engagement and wellbeing
- Works flexibly and collaboratively across different settings, maintaining clear and professional communication
- Upholds Child Safe Standards, DOBCEL policies, and school expectations for safety and conduct
Special Requirements
- Working with Children Check (Employee) & National Police Check
- Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, and Mandatory Reporting training (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning profiles (desirable)
- Commitment to the Child Safe Standards, Catholic ethos, and DOBCEL policies
