We are seeking an experienced part-time (0.4FTE) Junior School French Teacher on a fixed term basis for the 2026 academic year, and commencing in Term 1.

The Junior School French Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective French language instruction to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The role requires a dynamic and enthusiastic educator who can foster a love of language learning, implement innovative teaching practices, and integrate cultural elements into lessons. The position holder will also collaborate with colleagues to support a whole-school approach to language acquisition and development.
Commencing in Term 1, 2026 this is a temporary part time (0.4FTE) position for the 2026 academic year.
What You Will Do
- Develop and deliver French lessons for students in Prep to Year 2 that are engaging, innovative and aligned with curriculum outcomes
- Use ICT and digital resources to enhance language learning and student engagement
- Contribute to the development and review of the Junior School language program, ensuring the curriculum is modern, relevant, and challenging
- Provide students with a rich cultural context including French-speaking countries’ traditions and customs
- Assess students’ language progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents
- Maintain accurate student records and write end-of-semester reports
- Work collaboratively with other specialist teachers, classroom teachers, support staff and the Deputy Head of Junior School - Teaching and Learning to ensure consistency and quality in language teaching
- Participate in regular staff meetings, professional development sessions and school events
- Organise and participate in French-related cultural activities, excursions, holiday tours, incursions and language competitions
What You Bring
- A degree in Education or related field, with a focus on French or Languages
- Accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to teach in NSW schools
- Demonstrated experience teaching French to primary-aged students, and strong understanding of the NSW Languages Syllabus
- Enthusiasm for language and cultural education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Flexibility and adaptability in teaching methods
- Punctuality, professionalism and high levels of work reliability
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A current First Aid / CPR Certificate and valid Working with Children Clearance (WWCC).
