Internship - ASPIRE - Newcastle West

Working with the Aspire Artistic Director and Aspire Team, this role gives ex-students insight into the running of a creative arts program.

The Catholic Schools, Diocese Maitland-Newcastle is seeking a temporary part-time (14 hours per week) Intern to join the ASPIRE team in January 2027 for 12 months.

ASPIRE is the creative and performing arts program of the Maitland/Newcastle Catholic Schools.

Focused on nurturing creativity and artistic expression, ASPIRE offers a wide range of initiatives including in-school workshops, performance support, and professional development for staff.

The program also leads special projects in areas such as songwriting, scriptwriting, theatre devising, and choreography.

Each year, ASPIRE produces an original stage production, inviting students to audition and participate through various ensembles—dance, design, drama, music, and production—providing a vibrant platform for young artists to shine.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Working under the direction of the Aspire Artistic Director, the Aspire intern is a year long paid internship designed to give ex-students an insight into the running of a arts program for young people. The role is designed to be a learning experience whilst also providing support to the Artistic Director in the delivery of ASPIRE programs including the production, Anzac Event and Theatre Makers Programs.
