Position Information

Granville Boys High School (846 students), 98% Non-English-Speaking Background, is a partially selective secondary school for boys with a selective class in each of the years from 7 – 10 as well as enrichment classes in each of the junior years. Our culturally diverse school nurtures inclusivity, personal responsibility, and friendship. The school moto is ‘Aiming for Excellence’ and has a strong academic focus that includes a Saturday tutoring program and a Robotics program. GBHS has its own work skills programs which includes a Barber Shop and the Pulse Café. Our school is located in the South-Western Sydney, which is the most multicultural region of Australia. Through our partnerships with universities, local businesses and the wider community, we provide our boys with quality teaching and learning opportunities to prepare for life beyond school.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. Proven expertise in initiating, implementing and overseeing whole school administration roles, including managing daily organisation of staff cover, navigating the complexities of last-minute changes and variations to routine, employing casual staff and developing and implementing rosters and schedules.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of high-quality organisational skills and the ability to support equitable resourcing to support teaching and learning at an administrative level in applications such as Edval, Edval Daily, NESA Schools Online, School Bytes, and Sentral.
  3. Capacity to actively contribute to the executive team by participating in strategic school planning, decision-making processes and the development and implementation of initiatives that support the school’s vision and goals.
  4. Demonstrated educational leadership in the achievement of successful outcomes for High Potential and Gifted students.

General Selection Criteria

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
