About the Role

As Head of Special Education Services (HOSES), you will lead a passionate and skilled team dedicated to supporting students with disability to access, participate, and achieve across all areas of school life. You will work closely with the Principal and Deputy Principals to drive the school's inclusive education strategy, ensuring that high-quality teaching and targeted supports enable every student to reach their potential.

Your leadership will focus on:

  • Leading and managing the Special Education team to deliver effective, evidence-based support for students with disability.
  • Building teacher capability in differentiation, curriculum access, and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Coordinating personalised learning, verification, and transition processes in alignment with departmental policy and procedures.
  • Strengthening collaborative partnerships with staff, parents, specialists, and external agencies to support student wellbeing and achievement.
  • Using data and evidence to inform decision-making and continuously improve inclusive education outcomes.

The Perfect Fit

  • Proven experience supporting students with disability and leading inclusive education practices.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum, pedagogy, and adjustments for diverse learning needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead inclusive practices and support diverse learners through a strong understanding of reading development across the Australian Curriculum, including effective intervention, data use, and alignment with whole-school pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that promote collaboration and trust.
  • The ability to lead and inspire a team of teachers and teacher aides to deliver high-impact support.
  • Strong organisational and data management skills to guide effective decision-making.
  • Experience in a leadership role within a Special Education or Inclusive Education setting.
