We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music Specialist Teacher to Lead our Music Faculty.
Full time, 3-year tenure – Permanent appointment as Teacher
Time release - 0.6 FTE of a full teaching load, Band 2 Allowance is applicable

About the role
The Head of Music is responsible for the development and implementation of Music curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment from ELC to Year 12. Reporting to the Director of Performing Arts, you will lead a dynamic team of teaching and co-curricular staff, ensuring high standards in both academic and co-curricular music programs, including instrumental and performance activities.
Key Responsibilities include
- Oversee planning, preparation, and review of engaging and relevant Music programs across ELC–Year 12, ensuring compliance with Federal and State curricula.
- Lead and mentor Music staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Drive continuous improvement in teaching practice and student learning outcomes, using data to inform strategies and interventions.
- Develop and promote a strong, high-quality, and varied co-curricular, instrumental, and performance program as part of the School’s Performing Arts offering.
- Manage budgets, resources, and staff performance within the Music department.
- Collaborate with other Curriculum Leaders and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all School policies, including child safety and wellbeing.
Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration with Teachers Registration Board of South Australia
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role as a Music teacher and leader
- Exemplary classroom practitioner with a proven record of student outcomes
- Proven leadership in pedagogy, curriculum development, and staff management
- High-level understanding of SACE and contemporary educational practices
- Strong ICT skills and experience integrating technology into teaching
- Accreditation as a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher (or working towards) is desirable.
