Your opportunity

Each Head of Department leads a large and complex area within a P-12 context of approximately 3,700 students, contributing to a highly collaborative and strategic leadership environment.

This role is suited to a passionate, relational and strategic educational leader who values both excellence and opportunity in the arts. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong capability in leading curriculum and people, building effective team culture, and applying innovative thinking within a large P-12 setting.

As Head of Department - Performing Arts, you will:

  • Lead a dynamic faculty in the design and delivery of high-quality curriculum and co-curricular programs that foster creativity, excellence and student engagement.
  • Provide strategic leadership across Performing Arts disciplines and the Instrumental Music Program from Year 3 to Year 12, supporting pathways and opportunities for students across a broad P-12 context.
  • Oversee curriculum development, implementation and continuous improvement across the faculty, and contribute to the broader strategic direction of the college as a member of the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead the development, implementation and review of Performing Arts curriculum across Years 6 to 12, aligned with college and departmental priorities
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership of the Instrumental Music Program from Years 3 to 12, including supporting program quality, pathways and student participation
  • Drive improvement in teaching and learning through coaching, feedback and targeted professional development
  • Lead and manage staff to build a collaborative, high-performing and innovative team culture
  • Oversee curriculum planning, assessment and reporting practices across Performing Arts subjects and programs
  • Support and strengthen excellence pathways, co-curricular opportunities and community partnerships within the arts
