Ltyentye Apurte Catholic School (LACS) is a culturally rich K–12 school in the heart of the Eastern Arrernte community, 83 km southeast of Alice Springs. Our school offers an inclusive environment where every student is supported to grow at their own pace. With English being the second language for most students, the Arrernte language and culture is a key focus of the learning experience at LACS.
The position:
This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity for a teacher to lead small class sizes for Years 7 and 8 combined.

As a Teacher at LACS, you will:
- Collaborate closely with Arrernte Assistant Teachers and local Aboriginal educators to create culturally meaningful learning experiences.
- Support student wellbeing and behaviour through positive, inclusive classroom practices.
- Engage with families and the community to strengthen learning partnerships and celebrate student growth.
- Contribute to the life of the school through participation in events, professional development, and collaborative staff initiatives.
About you:
The successful applicant will:
- Showcase experience teaching at a primary or secondary level.
- Uphold the commitment to supporting and respecting the Catholic ethos.
- Have a willingness to embrace remote community life and contribute positively to local culture and relationships.
- Be an adaptable educator committed to inclusive teaching and differentiated learning.
- Hold, or be eligible for, registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board.
- Hold a current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).

Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa) is an Aboriginal community belonging to the Eastern Arrernte people, and is located 83 kms south east of Alice Springs in semi-desert country. Temperatures are extreme from 0 degrees to 45 degrees. The Aboriginal residents speak Arrernte and use English as their second language. It is a dry community (no alcohol permitted on the property). No special Permits for the consumption of alcohol are granted. There are penalties for breaking the law.
Santa Teresa has a fully equipped garage and workshop facility. Postal facilities are available and a general store and a well equipped health clinic operate. There is a Recreation Centre which children and youth of the community access most days. A 25 metre swimming pool is operational during the summer months.
The people of Santa Teresa have a long association with the Catholic Church and are currently served by the Divine Word Missionaries, the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and the Marist Brothers.
The School is an Indigenous Catholic Community School and is administered by the Catholic Education Office based in Darwin and the Marist Brothers in partnership with the community. It is centrally funded by the Federal Government and NT Education Department. It caters for children from Preschool to Year 12. There are approximately 120 students.
