Rockville State School

Rockville State School is a welcoming primary school located just 5km north of the Toowoomba CBD. Established in 1922, our school has maintained a tradition of providing quality education to the local community and currently caters for around 200 students from Prep to Year 6. Working with stakeholders to support families and students to access a quality education. As the Family Support Coordinator, you will work with classroom teachers, school support staff, Early Childhood Coordinators (where available) to establish safe, welcoming learning environments. Coordinators will assist the school team to support children and families successfully transition into school from early childhood services, facilitate access to learning or engagement support to help establish positive patterns of school attendance, behaviour and engagement in learning and link families to external government and non-government supports and services to reduce barriers to learning for students. The Family Support Coordinator reports to the Principal or their nominated delegate within the base primary school location.

Responsibilities include

• Implement structured and long-term collaboration with a diverse range of external partners to drive positive outcomes for families and children to engage successfully with learning and strengthen relationships with parents and carers to facilitate improvement in student attendance, behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist support staff to understand the child's needs and connect families with services, such as health, therapeutic and developmental interventions to support engagement with learning.
• Build and sustain positive relationships and effective partnerships with students, parents, school staff, government agencies and community services and provide expert input into decision making processes to ensure optimum outcomes for children and their families.
• Bring expertise into school communities about vulnerable children and families and their needs to facilitate engagement in learning and improved learning outcomes.
