Education Assistant - Special Needs
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Established in 1985, Cyril Jackson Senior Campus Education Support Centre (CJSC ESC) is a progressive school which enrols students with disabilities from Years 10 to 13. Located in the Perth suburb of Bassendean, we are a 5-minute walk from Ashfield Train Station.
The Role
The Special Needs Education Assistant plays a key role in supporting the teaching and learning process by assisting teachers in the delivery of planned educational programs and fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment. Suitable applicants should be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated and able to work collaboratively and effectively within high functioning teams to support positive student outcomes.
Suitable applicants should assist in creating an environment conducive to learning, produce and assist in implementing purposeful and relevant learning experiences that support a wide range of student learning needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are highly desirable. Applicants should display knowledge and experience in supporting students with a range of disabilities.
Within this role, applicants should be familiar with, or willing to learn strategies to assist in the implementation of a variety of specialised programs including behaviour analysis, Direct Instruction, Multilit, Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation (DSF) Phonics Books, Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) and Team Teach alongside providing off-site support including Work Placement, Excursions and Camps.
