Bayview College seeks an educational leader with a contemporary ecumenical vision and values to energise faith, culture, community & learning.
• Shape a contemporary Christian culture through faith-in-action
• Lead formation and Christian identity across the College
• Visible, relational leadership to strengthen connections & activate community

Located on Portland’s historic foreshore, Bayview College is a future-focused Years 7–12 school grounded in the traditions of its five partnering churches and enriched by more than 150 years of Loreto-inspired courage, compassion and service.

Ecumenical by design and inclusive by nature, the College cultivates a vibrant culture where faith is lived through meaningful relationships, social contribution and purposeful action. With a proud reputation for community engagement, personalised learning and values-driven leadership, Bayview is seeking a dynamic educator to help shape a compelling, contemporary expression of faith that strengthens student voice, belonging and whole-school culture.

The Director of Christian Identity & Culture reports to the Principal and works closely with the Executive Team and Christian Identity Board Sub-committee to lead the College’s faith, culture, formation and community partnerships.

The Director of Christian Identity & Culture leads Bayview’s Christian mission with authenticity, imagination and a wholehearted commitment to the College’s ecumenical identity. The role champions faith-in-action across curriculum, culture and community life, ensuring the Faith & Values program (Years 7–12) is contemporary, evidence-informed and resonant with young people. As a visible, present leader, the Director nurtures staff formation, guides liturgical and celebratory life, strengthens social justice initiatives, and builds collaborative relationships with local churches and community groups. This is a role for a relational educator who sees faith as a catalyst for belonging, resilience and collective flourishing.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

  • model Christian values and articulate a contemporary, ecumenical vision of faith
  • lead and renew faith-based curriculum using current research and best practice
  • build authentic relationships that enrich culture, wellbeing and community engagement
  • inspire staff formation and student leadership through visible, relational guidance
  • strengthen partnerships with churches, families and local organisations
  • contribute collaboratively to an agile Executive Team shaping whole-school culture.

Offered as an ongoing substantive senior teacher role, with an additional three-year fixed Position of Leadership contract term, the appointee will commence in January 2026 preferably, or another date by negotiation. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia and must be a registered teacher (or eligible for teacher registration, preferably VIT). Candidates with postgraduate studies in theology or relevant areas are encouraged to apply and applicants with prior experience teaching religious education will be at an advantaged.

Bayview College staff comply with the school's child safety and related policies and procedures, upholding the principles and values set out in legislative frameworks and regulations, at all times conducting themselves in accordance with the commitment to take all reasonable steps to promote the safety of children.
