Position Information
The new Wentworth Point High School (WPHS) is currently under construction at Wentworth Point which is located at Burroway Road Wentworth Point. The high rise six level school sits in a high-density property area comprising only apartment residences. The NSW government has committed more than $160 million to the new development making Wentworth Point High School a state-of-the-art multi storey high rise public high school. This role is to commence Term 3, 2024 with all the preliminary requirements of establishing a new school, working with the principal on new staffing, new processes and working collaboratively with Schools Infrastructure NSW. The school is due to commence operations at the beginning of the 2025 school year with a staggered start to year groups year-on-year. The school is expected to open for Day 1, Term 1 in 2025 for Year 7. A new cohort of Year 7 students will commence each year after until all stages have commenced in 2030. The new secondary school is designed to serve the dramatically growing number of local families in the area and will cater for 1530 students with an average year group of 255 students. The school will operate in two phases. Phase one of the school opening has been approved which includes delivery of all teaching space works, excluding the hall and landscape associated with the existing Ridge Road. Capacity limited to 850 students. Phase 2 is subject to a separate application by TfNSW to amend the Concept Plan DA, which would remove Ridge Road and include a proposed east road, sports field and parking (30 car spaces), Phase 2 delivers the hall and landscape area that is within the footprint of the existing Ridge Road. Capacity increased to 1530 students. The school will also house five support unit classes. The unit will also open in 2025 with three Autism (AU) support classes, a total of 21 students. In 2026 an additional two classes will commence for Moderate Intellectual Disability (IO) / Autism (AU) students with seven students per class, totaling 14 students. The Support Unit plans to cater for 35 students by 2026. The school will have close links with Wentworth Point Public School, as a partner school as well as sharing a geographical boundary. The school will also have strong links with Parramatta Council as there will be shared grounds and facilities, such as parking space and an oval.

- A highly visible and approachable leader with exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to create a positive inclusive school culture that ensures authentic connections with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven capacity to successfully lead development and implementation of department policies in a developing school context, that reflect understanding of diverse student learning and wellbeing needs.
- Proven expertise in supporting staff to plan and implement innovative evidence-based teaching and learning that ensures continuous improvement and high expectations.
- Demonstrated adaptive leadership in managing school operations for a developing school context.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
