Position Information

Beecroft Public School is located in the Metropolitan North Operational Directorate with a student population of 845, including 75% who have English as an additional language or dialect. The high socioeconomic context of the school contributes to its academic success and proud record of high academic achievement. There are two Opportunity Classes (OC) at Beecroft Public School. Parents and the community, including a dynamic P&C, are actively involved in our students' education, support school programs and are proud of the school's achievements.

High quality curriculum provision, differentiation in literacy and numeracy underpinned by formative assessment practices remain key drivers of school growth. High impact professional learning is driven by a deeply embedded collaborative inquiry model that clearly links teacher learning to student learning. 

Ensuring the school delivers an evidenced-informed approach to enhancing student, staff and community wellbeing remains a priority. The school continues to deliver a balanced education with opportunities in performing and creative arts, debating and sport, including PSSA.

Through ongoing evaluation, as part of the School Excellence Cycle, including the Situational Analysis, the school has identified two key initiatives for the 2024-2027 Strategic Improvement Plan.

1. Student Growth & Attainment: Beecroft Public School students achieve high levels of reading and numeracy attainment. Teachers will use the established Collaborative Inquiry professional learning model to identify areas of uplift in reading and numeracy. 

2. Student Wellbeing: Supporting student wellbeing remains a key priority at Beecroft Public School. Overall student sense of belonging and engagement are focus areas identified through ongoing evaluation. 

Selection Criteria

  1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary. Demonstrated experience and impact of leading teaching and learning to create a positive culture of high expectations, ensuring effective, evidence-informed teaching practices that enable student improvement and achievement.
  2. Experience developing and leading positive education and wellbeing initiatives that build resilience and collaboration, supporting a culture of care and the pursuit of personal best.
  3. Evidence of emotionally intelligent, visible leadership and an ability to manage school systems and the complexities of the role, including building the capacity of staff and strengthening authentic connections with the community. 

General Selection Criteria

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
