Position Information
Artarmon Public School is located on the lower north shore and has a student enrolment of 1200. The school culture is that of high expectations, reflected by the attainment of excellence in academic achievement. As part of the total enrolment population at Artarmon PS, there are 4 Opportunity Classes of 30 students. Our school is supported by a strong and vibrant multicultural community, with over 86% of our students having a language background other than English. Artarmon Public School has a large and diverse teaching staff who provide teaching and learning opportunities that contribute to the development of self-evaluative, resilient lifelong learners. Capacity building of all staff through distributive practices enables teachers to engage in high-quality professional learning, grounded in evidence-based research to improve both teacher and student learning. Students have the opportunity to become involved in a range of extracurricular activities that support the development of the whole child, with a particular emphasis on the creative and performing arts. There are strong links between the school and community, with an energetic P&C, consisting of parents, caregivers, and the wider community who support the school with a number of initiatives to provide additional resources for students.
Selection Criteria
- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary
- Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate, implement, and evaluate whole school initiatives that build capacity of middle leaders and teaching staff to improve student outcomes.
- Approachable and visible leader with exemplary interpersonal and communication skills and a strong commitment to foster positive staff collaborative culture.
- High level organisational skills with proven experience in leading and managing school operations, policies, and procedures to ensure a high-quality environment for students, staff, and parents.
- Experience in leading effective student wellbeing and diverse authentic partnerships that build the school as a cohesive educational community.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
