We are seeking an experienced, passionate and dynamic Deputy Principal at our wonderful school. We work as a closely as a leadership team, inspiring children, enabling an amazing team of educators.

We are seeking a passionate, dynamic and innovative leader to work in partnership with staff, students and the parent community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sound understanding and practical knowledge of current learning and teaching understandings, the ability to use and analyse data strategically for continuous school improvement and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a Professional Learning Team. The position is suitable for those who have a passion for life-long learning and possess a genuine love of children and a commitment to teaching. Our aim is to lead a progressive educational setting with coaching, leadership, learning and excitement.

Running alongside our core leadership work we acknowledge the role of the Deputy Principal also supports the principal and leadership team in management, organisational management, policies- creation and updates and improvement of the education of all students. It will involve working closely with the principal in enacting the strategic directions of MACS, the school vision and strategic plan.

Our priorities include knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current educational research and the MACS Vision for Instruction and the Vision for Engagement.
  • Explicit learning and teaching through targeted intent, success, feedback and impact - Improved learning outcomes for all children
  • Instructional Leadership: Capacity to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices to ensure high-impact teaching strategies are consistently applied across all learning areas.
  • Data-Informed Practice: Expertise in using quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., formative assessment, PAT, NAPLAN) to diagnose children's learning needs, measure instructional effectiveness, and target interventions that drive student growth and equity.
  • Learning Culture and Engagement: Ability to foster an inclusive and challenging learning environment where all children are known, valued, and inspired to become self-regulated and deeply engaged learners.
  • Professional Growth: ability to coach, mentor, and lead high-quality professional learning (PL) for staff, focusing on enhancing pedagogical capacity and collective teacher efficacy.
  • Focus on Berry St Educational model to ensure an inclusive learning environment and safety and wellbeing for all children
  • Creating a faith filled learning environment - Ability to articulate and model Catholic values, fostering a culture of faith, social justice, and service within the school community.
  • High-level communication and organisational skills

The position will initially be offered as a fixed-term Deputy Principal position for 2 years with an ongoing teaching position.

The successful applicant will hold Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration, accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.
