Deputy Principal - Alstonville High School

Position Information

Alstonville High School is a fully comprehensive school of over 500 students, with 8% Aboriginal and Torres Strait student enrolment, 50 teaching and 12 non-teaching staff, located in the village of Alstonville, halfway between Lismore and Ballina, in the hinterland of the north coast of NSW. We work together to provide excellent and inclusive learning opportunities to support the growth and attainment of each of our students. We support our students' aspirations to grow into confident and creative citizens, resilient in the face of the breadth of challenges they will face throughout their lives. Our school provides a safe and challenging learning environment. General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Proven ability to manage complex daily operations, systems and procedures efficiently, with strong organisational skills and clear, effective communication.
2. Demonstrated capacity to operate as a highly visible, collaborative and consultative member of a dynamic executive team with the ability to build and maintain genuine community relationships.
3. Proven ability to achieve significant uplift in student outcomes through the effective implementation of the schools' strategic directions and whole school programs.
4. Demonstrated success in developing, leading and managing student wellbeing and behaviour programs that enhance positive school culture, maximising academic and personal growth.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
