The opportunity

Suitably experienced and qualified applicants are invited to apply for a permanent part-time Creative and Media Arts Assistant role in the Creative Arts Department. This position is required to work 4 days per week, term-time only.

About the role

The Creative and Media Arts Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day support provided to teachers within the Creative Arts Department including ordering and preparation of materials and equipment for practical lessons, maintaining safe and ordered learning spaces, and display of art works. Demonstrating a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently. Applicants must be able to work cooperatively in a team specifically supporting the Head of Department and teachers.

About you

The successful candidate will have a commitment to supporting child learning and safety. We are looking for confident self-starters who enjoy building relationships with people, possess excellent communication and organisation skills, and can be relied upon to work autonomously.

Candidates must:

• Commit to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Clearance.
• Demonstrate experience with, or a willingness to learn, the ordering, preparation and management of creative arts materials, resources and media production equipment for practical lessons and school events.
• Demonstrate competency in the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to maintain accurate records, inventories and documentation.
• Possess strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain orderly learning spaces and ensure resources are available when required.
• Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, problem-solving ability and capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Communicate effectively and work cooperatively within a team, providing professional support to the Head of Creative Arts and teaching staff.
• Demonstrate a positive, energetic and professional approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and the sharing of best practice.
• Support the preparation, maintenance and safe operation of creative arts learning spaces, ensuring materials, equipment and displays are organised and maintained in accordance with WHS requirements.
• Assist with the display and presentation of student artwork, exhibitions and creative showcases throughout the College.
• Be reliable, punctual and flexible in supporting the varied operational needs of the Creative Arts Department.
• Be willing to provide support for College events and productions, including occasional work outside normal business hours, with time in lieu provided.

Qualifications/Experience

• Experience in the Creative Arts (for example, visual arts mediums, photography, film, digital art, media)
• Familiarity in working with a range of arts materials and media equipment
• A solid knowledge of WHS requirements is required
• Working with Vulnerable People card
