St Michael’s Primary School in Coolamon are looking for a suitable Classroom and Learning Support to work Part -Time commencing ASAP for the remainder of the 2025 school year.

St Michael's Primary School is a rural school that provides for the academic and spiritual growth for the children of Coolamon and surrounding districts. Children have the opportunity to participate in many learning experiences as well as being exposed to assessment at State or wider levels with such opportunities as the University of NSW Exams, Basic Skills Tests and Essay writing competitions. In the sporting arena, the children are exposed to a wide variety of sports throughout the year, with opportunities to represent at Deanery, Diocesan, MacKillop and State levels.

Your New Role
Classroom and learning support (CLS) is a dedicated service that provides a range of resources and assistance to students with disabilities and additional learning needs. It aims to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can reach their full potential. CLS staff work closely with classroom teachers to identify and address students' needs, providing tailored support and strategies. This may include direct instruction, small group work, assistive technology, and behavior management techniques. CLS also offers professional development to teachers, helping them implement effective inclusive practices.
- Assist teachers and students in and outside the Learning Spaces
- Assist with the supervision of small groups and/or individual students on activities, as directed by the teacher
- Undertake specific tasks with individuals or small groups of students under the guidance of the teacher
- Toileting and supervising students during break times (on a shared roster)
- Support the students and/or teachers in the use of technology
- Assist students with physical, medical or mobility challenges

This leave replacement contract may be extended into Term 1, 2026, depending on business needs, however is not guaranteed.
Selection Criteria
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills with both adults and children.
- An understanding of general educational processes and methods.
- An understanding of general health and safety requirements.
- Proven capacity to work as part of a team and be adaptable and flexible.
- Proven capacity to work independently.
- Established skills of creativity, initiative and good judgement.
- Proven capacity to work with children with high and/or additional needs.
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy with personal skills of accuracy, precision, organisation and planning.
- NSW Working with Children Check
- Successful Candidate to undertake a National Criminal History Check
- Accreditation for Support Staff in a Catholic School (Category A,Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools, Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga) or willing to achieve.
