Position Information
Broken Hill North Public School is located in the Far West of NSW and is one of six local primary schools. Our school community is committed to providing our students with a broad education, offering a variety of educational programs to ensure that each child reaches their potential, takes the individual needs of students into account, and holds staff and students to high expectations. Each child is encouraged to take pride in their own culture while appreciating the culture of others.
Broken Hill North Public School is located in the Broken Hill Group of Schools in the Far West of NSW. It is classified as a P2 with an average of 250 students over the past 5 years. The structure of the school comprises 5 support classes, 11 mainstream classes, 27% Aboriginal enrolment and a staffing entitlement of 30.252 which includes teaching and non-teaching staff.
In 2024 we have 41% of students listed on our National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) return requiring supplementary to substantial adjustments to their classroom experience.
Our school's Family Occupation& Education Index (FOEI) of 159, which is significantly higher than the average of 100, reflects our school's socio-economic status.
Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and / or experience in teaching students with a range of disabilities and / or complex needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collegial leadership team bringing a Special Education perspective and lens to drive improvement for all students within a Special Education setting.
- Proven ability to be an easily noticeable, accessible, and collaborative leader, adept at developing and maintaining positive, inclusive, and trusting relationships with all stakeholders.
- Established leadership skills in guiding students and staff to nurture and advance a holistic approach to personal growth and achievement.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply).
A Relocation support payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
