This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced Science teacher looking to further develop their leadership capabilities while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing faculty.
This is a Permanent Full-Time teaching position with a three-year (1-point) promotional appointment as Assistant Head of Science (2027–2029).
The Assistant Head of Science supports the Head of Science in the effective leadership of the Faculty and assists in ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum outcomes for students.
Working collaboratively with faculty staff and College leaders, the successful applicant will contribute to curriculum development and implementation, support faculty initiatives, assist in analysing student achievement data and foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
The successful applicant will be an excellent classroom practitioner with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving exceptional outcomes for both students and staff.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- A working understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic ethos of a School in the Edmund Rice tradition.
- Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
- Qualified to teach Science (Stage 4–6) with NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.
- Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner.
- Leadership experience, or the capacity to support and develop a professional team.
- Strong curriculum knowledge and a commitment to evidence-informed teaching and learning.
- Experience, or demonstrated capacity, to support curriculum planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
- The ability to support student achievement across a diverse range of learners.
- Exceptional communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build productive relationships with students, staff and families.
Highly Desirable:
- Qualifications and experience teaching Physics (Stage 6) and/or Chemistry (Stage 6).
- Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Leadership, Religious Education, Theology or a related discipline.
- Experience using student achievement data to inform teaching practice and support improvement initiatives.
