This is a Leadership Level 2 position with a 0.5FTE period release. No particular teaching area is required.

The Headmaster seeks to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced Christian educator who displays a commitment to their Christian faith, evidenced by regular attendance at a Bible Believing Church, to this full-time, permanent leadership position. The successful candidate will work closely with the other Assistant Dean of Senior School to support the Dean of Senior School (School Executive).

The staff of Macarthur are beneficiaries of an Apple laptop computer (for the duration of employment), a supportive Christian teaching environment and well-resourced facilities with a shared office co-located with the Dean of Senior School.

Candidates for this role will be required to demonstrate:

• the ability to command the classroom, a student assembly, a staff meeting, or a parent meeting and make people feel comfortable and informed;
• a deep understanding of pastoral care focused on student well-being and success;
• a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues in adolescents;
• an ability to be tenacious in following through complex social interactions and conflicts;
• familiarity with NESA curriculum requirements, experience in navigating academic pressure, assessment policy, academic tracking of students and examination procedures;
• the capacity to support the learning of both high-achieving and struggling students;
• support student wellbeing with empathy and boundaries by responding to crises in a steady, procedural manner; and,
• an ability to build a professional rapport with students to maximise positive student outcomes.

The successful candidate must also demonstrate innovative use of ICT and the desire to contribute to the outdoor education and co-curricular programmes that provide a rich experience for our students.
