Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) is the governing body responsible for overseeing Catholic education within the Diocese of Ballarat, which spans Western Victoria. Established to support the mission of the Catholic Church in education, DOBCEL governs 64 schools—comprising primary, secondary, and specialist settings—across regional and rural communities.
With a strong commitment to Gospel values, DOBCEL provides leadership and strategic direction to ensure Catholic schools in the Diocese deliver high-quality, inclusive education that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth of every student. The organisation plays a key role in system-wide improvement, policy development, school governance, and the wellbeing of staff and students.
Working in partnership with families, parishes, and the broader community, DOBCEL empowers educators and leaders through professional learning, faith formation, and resource support. Its vision is rooted in nurturing communities of faith and learning where students are inspired to become thoughtful, compassionate contributors to society.
