Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Youth Worker provides targeted early intervention and wraparound support for students at risk of disengagement. The role is grounded in a strengths-based, relational, and trauma-informed approach, partnering with students, families, and school staff to recognise and respond to students' social, emotional, academic and engagement needs, and intervene early through advice, guidance, and practical support.

  • Identify students at risk of disengagement and provide timely, early intervention support

Work with Families and Carers

  • Strengthen partnerships between school and home, supporting families to engage in their child's education
  • Assist families to access relevant services and supports, reducing barriers to participation
  • Act as a key point of connection to improve continuity of engagement and attendance

Collaborative Practice

  • Work within a school-based and regional multi-disciplinary team (Guidance, Social Work, Psychology, Therapy and Nursing and Wellbeing Workforce)
  • Support teachers and wellbeing teams to develop and implement targeted intervention and engagement plans
  • Contribute to shared case management and coordinated responses for students with complex needs

Whole School Contribution

  • Monitor and respond to attendance and engagement data to inform early action
  • Contribute to whole-school wellbeing strategies and initiatives
  • Support the development of a safe, inclusive and supportive school culture

Community and Partnerships

  • Build strong connections with community organisations and external agencies
  • Facilitate referrals and support students and families to navigate services effectively

Governance and Accountability

  • Maintain accurate records, case notes and data systems
  • Operate within departmental policies, procedures and professional standards
  • Participate in supervision and report to the Principal or delegate

Additional Information

  • Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available
  • A regional talent pool will be established
  • Salary advertised reflects 1.0 FTE
